Goat Autopsy « comrade simba

Jesus christ, it just never ends. Like I don’t have enough to do already.

We’ve had one or two goats a year die on us. They get a bit ragged looking, lose weight and get around okay, and then all of a sudden just go downhill fast. The usual worming routine pumps some new life into them sometimes, and other times nothing works. Wormwood, Snake Oil, Diatomaceous Earth, grain – no grain, good hay – no hay.

So to rule out liver flukes I performed an autopsy on the one that kicked today. Hours on the ‘net surfing disease pics trying to identify anything out of the ordinary. Of course, that all leads to engaging in post grad type research, and as a mud spattered bumbling course rube, I got nowhere for my troubles except for another double handful of things to try in the future. Fuck – why did I ever jump on a framing crew – I shoulda gone to vet school. Then I could spend half my life with my arm stuffed up a cows rectum.
